their Week 11 matchup with the Detroit Lions Authentic Donte Jackson Jersey , and on the injury front there’s not much to worry about at this time. Wide receiver Torrey Smith—who has missed the last three games with a knee injury—worked out on the side with trainers today. He was officially listed on the injury report as a DNP, but the fact that he’s doing work on the side is encouraging. I don’t want to speculate too much, but I believe we’ll see him back on the field this Sunday in Detroit.Center Ryan Kalil (ankle) and cornerback James Bradberry (illness)—who missed practice yesterday—were back in action today, which is also good news. Both are expected to play on Sunday. Here’s today’s full injury report:Panthers injury reportDid not participate in practiceWR Torrey Smith (knee)Limited participation in practiceC Ryan Kalil (ankle)QB Cam Newton (shoulder)TE Greg Olsen (foot)Full participation in practiceN/APractice StatusDid not participate in practice = 0% of a player’s normal repetitionsLimited participation in practice = Less than 100% of a player’s normal repetitionsFull participation in practice = 100% of a player’s normal repetitionsGame StatusOut = Player will not playDoubtful = Player unlikely to playQuestionable = Uncertain if player will play The Panthers need to add some depth to their defensive line. Is Christian Wilkins a good fit for them?EDTShareTweetShareShareFilm room scouting report on Clemson defensive tackle Christian WilkinsMatthew Emmons-USA TODAY SportsChristian Wilkins was an accomplished high school player in the state of Massachusetts. He was a five-star prospect and the No. 4 defensive tackle according to Rivals. Wilkins concluded a decorated four-year career in Death Valley with his second national championship. He finished his career with 41 tackles-for-loss, 16 sacks, and three forced fumbles. Wilkins tested as an average athlete at the Combine. According to SPARQ Authentic DJ Moore Jersey , he posted a -0.1 sigma which is located in the 47.4th percentile. Film reviewWilkins is ideally suited to play a 3-technique role in a 4-3, but he does have enough versatility to play anywhere. The question many evaluators will have to ask themselves is, did Wilkins’ talent shine on an individual basis or was he getting support from his peers on the defensive line? For me, Wilkins’ talent was obvious on an every down basis. He has a good mixture of ability against the run and pass. The first thing that jumps out is his first step movement and then athleticism to shoot gaps. On this play, Wilkins initially jumps towards the B gap but then contorts his body back into the middle to disrupt the rusher. This isn’t possible without Wilkins playing with leverage. The low man always wins and Wilkins does in this case. Wilkins lines up at 1-technique on this play, but once again he uses his quickness to elude the blocker and shoot the gap. While Wilkins tested as an average athlete, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a hindrance on the field. If the tested worse Will Grier Carolina Panthers Jersey , then I’d have questions. On the field, Wilkins has decent lateral movement to get down the line and limit the ball carrier. The offense gets a first down on this play, but Wilkins is not at fault. Check out his lateral movement. He doesn’t keep his head down, which allows him to have awareness of the runner. A noticeable weakness of Wilkins in the run is he struggles to anchor. He gets double teamed briefly, but he’s not able to overcome the hands of the blocker which limits his effectiveness. I hope an NFL team doesn’t require him to hand double teams. He’s an excellent 1-gapping defensive tackle and that’s how he should be used. As a pass rusher, Wilkins gets pressure with his quickness. His ability to just shoot gaps in both the run and pass reminds me of Grady Jarrett who is also a former Clemson defensive tackle.Wilkins is effective on stunts, but this sack shows his athleticism. He stays low throughout the rush Blue Will Grier Jersey , but is able to dip and show flexibility throughout his body. Wilkins does not have a diverse pass rush repertoire. This limits his ability to counter after his initial rush is stalled. Wilkins has the high level traits where he could develop his counters in the future, but right now it’s not there. With that said, most teams would love to have a 1-gap shooter like Wilkins so the lack of counters shouldn’t limit his ceiling. When his initial rush wasn’t successful, Wilkins never quit. He has a high motor, but he consistently threw up his hands to bat passes down. Fit with CarolinaThe Panthers have a plethora of needs across their defense especially on their defensive line. They have invested plenty of resources at the interior defensive line since 2013, but the return was unsatisfactory last season. Kawaan Short is in his 30s, Vernon Butler and Dontari Poe were disappointments Wes Horton Jersey 2019 , and Kyle Love remains unsigned as a free agent. Wilkins can line up anywhere on the defensive line, but if the Panthers want to maximize his strengths he needs to be 1-gapping. He has the versatility, athleticism, and production to become a mainstay on Carolina’s defensive line. Wilkins should be in consideration at No. 16 overall.
