https://www.theredskinslockerroom.com/authentic-dwayne-haskins-jersey , Va. (AP) — The question about that one particular, infamous play wasn’t complete when Mark Sanchez interrupted to deliver a perfectly straight-faced, deadpan response.“I’m not following,” he said. For a guy who was a first-round NFL draft pick and played in a pair of AFC title games at the outset of his professional career, Sanchez knows — fairly or not — his name is associated with “The Butt Fumble.” And so he was able to crack a smile — and a retort — when it was brought up at a news conference Wednesday before Sanchez participated in his first practice as the Washington Redskins‘ latest starting quarterback. He’ll be on the field Sunday when Washington (6-6) hosts the New York Giants (4-8).“What are you going to do? It was a crappy play in a game we were getting our butts kicked,” Sanchez said about that turnover after running into one of his linemen during his New York Jets’ 49-19 loss to the New England Patriots on Thanksgiving Day six years ago.“Some low-hanging fruit, so that was an easy reach for you,” he said. “I’m just kidding! I’m just kidding! Come on. You can give it to me; I can give it right back. Come on. Thick skin in here, huh? No, listen: Who cares? It’s one play. And just move on. I prefer to remember the good stuff.”Which, of course, is exactly what he should do.Let others focus on a long-ago blunder — as many on Twitter did during Washington’s 28-13 loss to Philadelphia on Monday night, when Sanchez recovered his own fumble by holding the ball against his behind.“In my mind, he shouldn’t let that (2012 play for the Jets) define him,” said Giants coach Pat Shurmur, who was the offensive coordinator for Sanchez when both were with the Eagles in 2014-15. “We are all involved in many, many plays and many, many games. There’s many, many good things that happen. You’re involved in a lot of wins and Doug Williams Jersey , unfortunately, you’re involved once in a while in a bad play or a bad game.”The 32-year-old Sanchez hasn’t won a regular-season start in almost exactly four years. And he has thrown for more interceptions (87) than TDs (86) in the NFL.But he was the only QB the team had after Alex Smith and Colt McCoy each went down with a broken right leg in a span of three games.“In some ways, two weeks ago, it was an unfamiliar position. But really, historically, it’s a familiar position. That’s what makes it fun. You work for something, you pray for something, and then it finally happens — you don’t care what the circumstances are,” Sanchez said. “You’re just happy to get a shot.”He joked Wednesday about being unfamiliar with his teammates: “Don’t ask me their names.”Joked, too, about Adrian Peterson’s 90-yard touchdown run against Philadelphia on Sanchez’s first play after entering for the injured McCoy: “That was a pretty good handoff, huh?”Now, though, coach Jay Gruden knows that Washington’s faint playoff hopes rest with a QB who was signed a couple of weeks ago.“It’s not easy for any quarterback, no matter how long you play. If you don’t get any reps in training camp or preseason or regular season with the guys you’re playing with, and you don’t know the terminology, so to speak, it’s a great challenge,” Gruden said about Sanchez. “But he’s a veteran guy and I think he’ll do the best he can.”Notes: CB Quinton Dunbar Womens Dwayne Haskins Jersey , WR Trey Quinn, G Jonathan Cooper went on injured reserve, and the Redskins signed QB Josh Johnson, G Zac Kerin, C Demetrius Rhaney and DE Marcus Smith. Johnson has not attempted a pass in a regular-season NFL game since 2011. EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — There’s a cockiness about the Washington Redskins‘ defense. They’re shutting down some of the NFL’s top running backs, making life miserable for opposing quarterbacks, not giving up many points — and doing a lot of talking. Why not? The unit is the major reason the NFC East-leading Redskins (5-2) have matched their best start since 2008.Safety D.J. Swearinger intercepted two passes, Matt Ioannidis had 2½ sacks, and the Redskins rode their defense to a third straight win, a 20-13 decision over the offensively inept New York Giants on Sunday. The Redskins sacked a battered Eli Manning seven times, forced the two turnovers, limited Saquon Barkley to 38 yards rushing and made big play after big play in sending New York (1-7) to its fifth straight loss.“We still have done nothing around here,” Swearinger said. “We beat them, but we haven’t won the division. We haven’t won the championship. We haven’t won the Super Bowl. There’s no room for lackadaisical. We haven’t done nothing yet. We’re just getting started. We’re just turning the stove on. We ain’t even put the grease in yet.”In some sense that’s true. The Redskins are winning and their offense is not lighting it up.Adrian Peterson caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from Alex Smith and ran for a season-high 149 yards, with the last 64 coming on a touchdown jaunt with 3:06 to play. Dustin Hopkins added field goals of 53 and 39 yards for the Redskins“I think we’ve invested some resources in the defense, hoping they would pay off,” said Redskins coach Jay Gruden, whose team has a 1½-game lead in the division. “We hoping this is what we’re trying to build. In this division Dwayne Haskins Jersey White , you’ve got to play great defense, in my opinion. This is critical for our success; until we get going offensively we have to win games like this. There’s nothing wrong with that.”The three-game winning streak is their longest in two seasons.Aldrick Rosas kicked field goals of 37 and 21 yards for the Giants. Manning, 30 of 47 for 316 yards, hit Evan Engram on a 2-yard touchdown pass with :17 to play.Engram also let a scoring chance slipped away at the Redskins 32 when a short fourth-down pass went through his fingers with New York down 10-3 early in the fourth quarter. The Giants came into the game wondering whether the trades this past week of starting cornerback Eli Apple and 2016 All-Pro defensive tackle Damon Harrison would be a problem. New York’s defense was fine. Its offense wasn’t, and the Redskins’ defense was very, very good.“We are not scoring enough points,” Manning said. “We are playing in close games and we are just not finding ways to win them, unfortunately. We have to be able to move the ball more consistently and we have to control the clock to help out our defense.”A major difference was Washington capitalized in the red zone, especially in the first half. Smith (20 of 32 for 178 yards) capped a 10-play, 73-yard drive with a TD pass to Peterson, who stepped out of a tackle by backup linebacker Nate Stupar at the 4-yard line.New York had two trips inside the Washington 20. Swearinger ended the first, stepping inside of Odell Beckham Jr., to intercept a slant pass at the 8-yard line.Rosas kicked a 37-yard field goal on the second drive after passes of 11 yards to Beckham and 24 to Saquon Barkley got New York in scoring position.Beckham had seven catches for 125 yards.Hopkins missed a 41-yard field goal after the Swearinger interception.Washington never lost the lead in the second half as its defense kept Manning ducking most of the day.“Our confidence is already high,” Redskins linebacker Zach Brown. “We don’t care what running back is back there. You’ve got to deal with us at the end of the day. We’re going to make you get out of that running game. We don’t want you to run the ball. We don’t want you to control the clock. We want you to pass the ball and we’ll let our boys back there do their thing.”INJURY REPORTRedskins: T Trent Williams (dislocated thumb), RB Kapri Bibbs (dislocated shoulder), S Troy Apke (aggravated a hamstring) and LB Ryan Anderson (sprained knee-MCL) were hurt during the game.Giants: RT Chad Wheeler left in the second half with an ankle injury and was replaced by Brian Mihalik.UP NEXTRedskins: host Atlanta on Sunday.Giants: a much-needed bye. Return at San Francisco for Monday game on Nov. 12.
