Below is what Seth had to say about his Cardinals.For the first time in weeks, it feels like the Arizona Cardinals have a shot.No, not only because they are playing a bad San Francisco team, no offense, but because change usually begets a boost for a team.It likely won’t change much on the overall season, but it will provide a temporary boost that helps get the Arizona Cardinals a win or two.Two reasons the Cardinals win in Week 8Mike McCoy is goneMcCoy has been one of the worst coaches in the NFL for the last two years, that’s why he’s been fired three times since the end of the 2016 season. Enter Byron Leftwich, who studied for years as a quarterback, offensive assistant and finally quarterbacks coach under Bruce Arians. Leftwich has a fantastic rapport with Josh Rosen, and he’ll bring back some of the concepts of the Bruce Arians offense, likely the rushing game and using David Johnson in a multitude of ways. He’ll also incorporate some of the concepts that Josh Rosen likes to use from college and even the Mike McCoy offense. The thing that Leftwich has vowed to do is something McCoy hasn’t done in his last two stops and why he has not coached a full season the last two years.Turnover city for the defenseThe Cardinals rode the right arm of C.J. Beathard to a win in the last matchup Tevin Coleman Jersey , and they could do it again. Beathard is a nice backup quarterback, but there’s a reason he’s a backup. The Arizona Cardinals since the preseason have feasted on below average starting quarterbacks. They’ll do it again on Sunday, because they have the talent to beat backups. I don’t know if that’s saying much, but it is something.Two reasons the Cardinals lose in Week 8Not enough timeLeftwich has been at the controls for 10 days鈥?it would not surprise if that’s not enough time to get the McCoy stench off. Let’s be completely honest, if Matt Breida doesn’t get hurt in their first matchup, it’s likely the 49ers win that first game. Why? The Arizona Cardinals offense is abysmal. Now, it may not be abysmal, but it may not be enough in sync to fix the problems, overcome the bad offensive line and get on track in just 10 days.Giving up alreadyEveryone knows that Patrick Peterson requested a trade this week. What if he’s saying all the right things but not feeling it? What if he’s already looking beyond his time in the desert? If he’s doing it, could other players? That’s what the biggest question the Cardinals will have to answer. They already are the worst rushing defense in the NFL, and if Breida is healthy Dante Pettis Jersey , the 49ers will have a great chance to gash them in the run game. If the 49ers can take the ball out of Beathard’s hands, it’ll be a win immediately for the 49ers. That could give the Cardinals problems and keep the season going in the wrong direction. Ironically enough, they took a chance on some players with injury questions in free agency. Somebody is going to have a big year on the 49ers defense that none of us are expecting. Life is a lot easier if you have three people on the defensive line that can get a sack on any given play. If the Niners play their cards right, they’ll be heading into the season with three high quality players that can rush the passer. All that’ll do is allow someone else to take advantage of their opportunity. Who will that be, though?Today we’ll talk about the 4 options it could be on the defensive line. The first overall pick doesn’t count.Options, options, optionsThere are a couple of obvious options as well as a couple of afterthoughts. You may have heard the Niners have a couple of former first round picks that haven’t panned out. This is likely a make or break it year for Solomon Thomas and Arik Armstead. As a third option—with nothing but 1-on-1’s—that could be exactly what the doctor ordered. Ronald Blair finished the season with 5.5 sacks. He also finished the season with 12 pressures. He will need to generate pressure at a much higher rate. Perhaps as a third rusher when either Dee Ford or first round draft pick kicks inside, Blair could be the beneficiary of that. Let’s say Kentavius Street fully recovers from injury. Street was known as a very good athlete that hustles all over the field. He could also be the type of player that breaks out.Who do you think it will be, and why?
