The underwear olympics are approaching quickly Adrian Peterson Jersey , I can’t wait to see which O linemen do well on the 40, and of course, the all-important vertical jump."Merry Hump Day, everyone!Thing a couple of the guys go through the routine, usually if there is a question mark or if someone is returning from injury and you want to gauge their recovery. The rest seems a bit goofy, but I am entertained when someone does really well or really poorly (usually doesn’t matter why, it’s all about the numbers, yo), and then we get to watch the analysts and everyone else throw out the 3-4 years of game film they have on a guy, simply because of how he performed on play-day (speaking of which, I think the 3-legged race should be a combine event). Then the little nameplate of the man who, on Monday, was on a team’s first-round slot on the draft board, with “Joe Montana, Jr., future GOAT” written on it, gets taken off of the first round slot, edited to read “Spurgeon Wynne + Ryan Leaf x Cleveland Browns”, and placed on the wall, underneath the 7th round and potential undrafted free agent signeees John Randle Jersey , to be used as dart practice, and laughed at for eternity......or until the draft is over. Goofballs. As I write this, I’m looking forward to waking up at 4 am so I can get to the airport for a 6 am flight. That flight will take me east about 400 miles to Minneapolis so that I can then fly back to the west (passing almost directly over my departure) about 1600 miles. The inefficiency bugs me...... a lot, but so does the thought that Minny may not be open due to the snow storm. Although, I hear that tomorrow’s snow won’t be nearly as heavy as what will be there on Friday and Saturday. I fly back on Friday, but I believe we fly through Denver, which is much more of a logical route, so hopefully I can get back home. I haven’t been back to Seattle since I lived there in the early/mid 90s, so it’ll be fun to see my old stomping grounds. Hopefully I’m allowed back in, they have to have forgotten by now, one would think.Around the DN since our last open thread:Adam Thielen’s agent is cautiously optimistic that the Vikings will be giving Thielen a raise, per Ted. I think the standard COLA increase is usually 3%, must be what they’re referring to. Actually, I think he’s earned it, and teams have no problem asking guys to take a pay cut, so might as well ask. I’m guessing he’s asking for far-less than the ridiculous increase traitor Ragnar demanded. The franchise window is open, but the Vikings don’t appear to be interested in sticking their head out of it, per Chris. I don’t blame them, it’s cold outside.Vikings news from elsewhere, other NFL News Alan Page Jersey , and our media selection:Yeah, I combined them, I have to get up in a few hours, and we all know there isn’t any news, so I’m going with efficiency.ESPN has a piece suggesting how the NFL’s worse quarterbacks can improve in 2019. Bortles should improve by sitting on the bench in 2019, but I don’t see that mentioned in the article. They must not have thought of that. From NFL.com, the new Packers QB coach, Luke Getsy, thinks that Aaron Rodgers wants to be coached. Okaaaaaayyyyyyy........? That’s kinda how the whole ‘player-coach’ dynamic thing works, right? I wonder if the new GM thinks that the Packers want to be GM’ed. Maybe the popcorn salesman thinks that the popcorn wants to be sold. Based on this story, I think that team is going to be tough this year, I hope the Vikings are ready.Just because.Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:No discussion of politics or religionNo feeding of the trollsThis isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the doorKeep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tagsNo pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employerIf you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go awayWhile navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasmWith that Randy Moss Jersey , the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up and tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, and try the head cheese. The ESPN draft expert says the top three offensive linemen will be off the board"ESPN draft guy Todd McShay has a bit of a wrinkle for the Vikings in his latest mock draft (it’s behind the paywall, so you won’t be able to see it unless you subscribe). With most everyone expecting (and a lot of Vikings fans pleading) to take an offensive lineman, he projects that Minnesota does something else entirely:Yeah, so this might be the point where pitchforks and torches come out at the draft party, but let’s look at a couple things before we burn Minneapolis to the ground. McShay projects that the top three offensive linemen are already off the board, and that changes things for me. Right now he has T Jonah Williams (Alabama) to Tampa Bay at five, T Jawaan Taylor (Florida) to Buffalo at nine, and T Cody Ford (Oklahoma) going 11th to Cincinnati. That would be the second year in a row the Bengals nab an o-lineman the Vikings are looking at (last year they drafted Billy Price), and it would irritate me more than Skyline Chili irritates my insides. So, that said, Sweat isn’t a bad play here. McShay is right in that you can’t have too many defensive ends, and with Everson Griffen’s future a bit murky, Sweat can come in and push for a starting job against Stephen Weatherly. At a minimum, you’d expect him to be a solid guy in the d-line rotation, and McShay projects no other offensive linemen to go in the first round. If the draft board unfolds this way, and the Vikings are focused on one of Williams, Taylor, or Ford, a trade down seems like a viable option as well. If they stay at 18 though Cris Carter Jersey , here are some other options still on McShay’s board the Vikes could also consider.T.J. Hockenson, TE, Iowa: McShay projects him 19th to Tennessee. Like Griffen, Kyle Rudolph has a big contract number that most folks expect to get re-worked. If it isn’t, and the worst case scenario of Rudolph being released materializes, Hockenson would be a good pick, although a bit surprising. A lot of folks think he’s the best TE in the class, and is almost as good a run blocker as he is at catching passes.Devin Bush, LB, Mich[That Team Up North]an: Barr’s contract status is even more in flux than Rudolph and Griffen. He’s set to become an unrestricted free agent, and unless Barr and the Vikings can come to terms, I think he walks. Over The Cap has projected the franchise tag number for 2019at over $15 million for a linebacker, which is a big deal. If Minnesota tagged Barr, that would hurt the Vikes in terms of having cap space for possible free agents, regardless of what contracts they re-work or players they release. All in all, it could be worse. I’d prefer an offensive linemen, as I think most fans would, but reaching for a guy at 18 just to get one while passing over a better player at a different position isn’t a smart strategy. In this scenario, Sweat seems like a good pick here.
