WELLINGTON Nike Shox Uomo Scontate , Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- New Zealand conservators have retrieved images from century-old photographic negatives found in the hut of one of the early European Antarctic explorers, the New Zealand Antarctic Heritage Trust announced Tuesday.


The cellulose nitrate negatives were found stuck together in the darkroom of British explorer Captain Robert Falcon Scott's expedition base at Cape Evans in Antarctica, according to the trust.


The images were taken from fellow British explorer Ernest Shackleton's famous 1914-1917 expedition to the frozen continent, which spent time in the hut after being stranded on Ross Island when their ship blew out to sea.


Shackleton was hailed as a hero after leading all his crew to safety in a marathon journey through the icy waters in three small boats after the loss of their ship.


The trust's conservation specialists discovered the clumped together negatives in a small box as part of the Ross Sea Heritage Restoration Project Nike Shox Scontate , which has seen more than 10,000 objects conserved at Scott's Cape Evans hut.


Detailed conservation treatment back in New Zealand separating the negatives revealed 22 images.


Many of the images are damaged, but the trust was able to identify landmarks around McMurdo Sound, although the identity of the photographer remained unknown.

In 2010, the Antarctic Heritage Trust discovered three crates of whisky and two crates of brandy under Shackleton's 1908 base during conservation work.


Robert Falcon Scott, a contemporary of Shackleton's, died in 1912 on an ill-fated race against Norwegian Roald Amundsen to be the first man at the South Pole.
