ATLANTA (AP) — After the Atlanta Braves leaned heavily on their youth in a breakout season Rougned Odor Jersey , a lack of experience and depth finally caught up to them in October. The Baby Braves ran out of steam in the NL Division Series, falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-2 on Monday. Manny Machado delivered the crushing blow, a three-run homer in the seventh inning against Chad Sobotka, a rookie who made Atlanta’s postseason roster despite appearing in only 14 regular-season games. Los Angeles won the series 3-1.The Braves scored a combined two runs in their three losses.“We didn’t hit,” Freddie Freeman said. “Bottom line. Too many opportunities left out there.”Sobotka was the second straight rookie reliever, after Max Fried, used by manager Brian Snitker in the game. The Braves lost their ninth consecutive playoff series since sweeping the Astros in the 2001 division series. Still, the team has good reason for optimism after improving from 90 losses in 2017 to win their first NL East title since 2013.The Baby Braves enjoyed their postseason moment in the spotlight Sunday night, when 20-year-old rookie Ronald Acuna Jr. became the youngest player to hit a postseason grand slam and rookie Touki Toussaint earned the win in relief. The 6-5 win kept the Braves from being swept in the series. But the kids certainly had their struggles. Acuna’s slam was a highlight, but he batted just .188. Ozzie Albies hit .200 and appeared to miscommunicate with right fielder Nick Markakis on Yasiel Puig’s popup Monday. Johan Camargo was hitless in the series.“I think probably after we won the division, they probably sat around and thought about the playoffs,” said Snitker of the group of young players. “But until you actually experience it, the intensity, just the electricity that’s involved in that. And like I say, if a team makes the playoffs, they’re pretty good.”There was obvious disappointment in the Braves clubhouse.“We didn’t win the World Series. It’s a lost season in my book,” Freeman said.Added Acuna through a translator: “That’s just baseball. Not everything goes the way you want it to. We did everything we could under our control. We put in maximum effort.”Snitker said the young players will benefit from their first postseason.“I think it’s just been a great experience for all those young guys to have experienced the postseason at such a young age,” Snitker said. “I hope they remember how good it felt when we clinched the division. And as they head to their offseason and their workouts and when they get to spring training, you know http://www.rangersfanproshop.com/authentic-matt-moore-jersey , they’ll have an eye on the prize there.”The veterans weren’t much of a help, either. Markakis had one hit in 12 at-bats, and Inciarte was 3 for 14. Reliever Jonny Venters created a jam that allowed David Freese to deliver a pinch-hit, two-run single off Brad Brach in the sixth Monday. Even Freeman, an All-Star, couldn’t match his usual production, going 4 for 16 with a homer.Atlanta’s thin bench was a glaring disadvantage, especially when compared with the Dodgers’ impressive depth.Kurt Suzuki, pinch-hitting for Braves starting pitcher Mike Foltynewicz, gave Atlanta the run with a two-run single off Rich Hill in the fourth . But Snitker’s other options on a thin bench included Ryan Flaherty, who hit .217 in the regular season, Lane Adams, Lucas Duda and backup catcher Rene Rivera.Duda just missed hitting a three-run homer off Kenta Maeda in the eighth, pulling the deep blast foul, before ending the inning with a fly ball to center.Atlanta’s depth took a hit when shortstop Dansby Swanson was left off the postseason roster with a hand injury.Charlie Culberson, normally a utility player, was forced into a starting role. Culberson was 1 for 4 on Monday and hit only .167 for the series.“It’s one of those things where everyone didn’t expect us to be here,” Culberson said. “We love to prove people wrong, but we’re pretty upset about not making it past the Division Series. … We’re looking forward. With everyone getting postseason experience this year Russell Wilson Jersey , now we know what to expect and we have bigger goals in mind.” Just when thought we knew who would advance to the 2018 World Series, the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers flipped their respective league championship series on their heads Tuesday.Entering Wednesday's action, the Dodgers are tied 2-2 with the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS, while the Red Sox hold a 2-1 ALCS advantage over the Houston Astros. The direction of the series can change in an instant, which makes predicting the two World Series participants a difficult task.Although a World Series rematch between the Astros and Dodgers is still in play, it's far from a guarantee with less than a week before the start of the Fall Classic.2018 World Series ScheduleGame 1:Tuesday, October 23 (Time TBD, Fox)Game 2:Wednesday, October 24 (Time TBD, Fox)Game 3:Friday, October 26 (Time TBD, Fox)Game 4:Saturday, October 27 (Time TBD, Fox)Game 5:Sunday, October 28 (Time TBD, Fox)Game 6:Tuesday, October 30 (Time TBD, Fox)Game 7:Wednesday, October 31 (Time TBD Martin Perez Jersey , Fox)LCS PredictionsDodgers in 6The Dodgers carry a few valuable things heading into Wednesday's Game 5, including home-field advantage and the momentum gained from Tuesday's 13-inning victory.Matt Slocum/Associated PressThe quick turnaround to Game 5 won't be kind to either side, but the Dodgers appear to have a distinct advantage with Clayton Kershaw toeing the rubber.Neither lineup has been particularly impressive, as the Brewers are hitting .231 and the Dodgers have a .201 series average, which leads us to believe another low-scoring affair is in the cards for at least Game 5.In his first start of the NLCS, Kershaw gave up four earned runs in three innings, but the Brewers haven't been able to score five runs in a game since their opening triumph at Miller Park.Milwaukee has received some unlikely production from Orlando Arcia while Ryan Braun is continuing his strong postseason with five hits and three RBI, but for the most part, the Brewers lineup hasn't done much. The same can be said about the Los Angeles lineup with the exception of Manny Machado, who leads the series with six hits. With Los Angeles' starters and Milwaukee's bullpen keeping hitters off-balance, neither lineup will put up astronomical numbers for the remainder of the season. The NLCS will come down to pitching, where the Dodgers have an upper hand with three reliable starters available in Kershaw, Hyun-Jin Ryu and Walker Buehler.Milwaukee's bullpen-first strategy has produced mixed results, but even with a day off between Games 5 and 6, the volume of innings pitched will weigh them down.Expect to see two tight games to finish off the series, with the Dodgers emerging victorious thanks to clutch hits from Machado and Justin Turner, who will shine in Game 6 just like he did during Game 2 in Milwaukee. Red Sox in 7No one knows which direction the ALCS will turn after Boston took control of the series with an 8-2 victory in Game 3.Frank Franklin II/Associated PressThe series we thought would be dominated by pitching has seen 31 runs cross the plate in 27 innings, and it looks like the bats on both sides are just getting warmed up.Seven of the nine players who started Game 3 in Boston's lineup recorded a hit, including Jackie Bradley Jr. http://www.rangersfanproshop.com/authentic-matt-moore-jersey , who busted the contest open with an eighth-inning grand slam.Although the Astros only recorded two runs on seven hits in their first home game of the ALCS, the production from the top of the lineup showed promise.George Springer, who extended his postseason hitting streak to 12 games, Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman combined for five of Houston's seven hits in Game 3, but now the other two-thirds of the order have to break through at the plate. If the Astros are able to get production up and down the lineup, like the Red Sox did in Game 3, the series will continue to be dominated by the bats. While Game 4 may witness another winner scoring seven or more runs, the experienced starters in both rotations will emerge as the dominant figures of the series, starting in Game 5.Surprising performances from David Price and Nathan Eovaldi, combined with some type of Chris Sale relief appearance in Game 7, will hand the Red Sox the slightest of edges over the experienced Astros.Although the Red Sox will close out the series at Fenway Park, it could come down to the final inning of Game 7, which is why Sale will be available in some capacity.
